Welcome to KS2
In Year 3 and 4 our aim is to continue to develop confident learners who have the key skills, knowledge and personal characteristics for a successful future learning career. We try, whenever we can, to link our learning to our topics to develop our understanding through cross curricular links.
It’s time to take a walk on the wild side! Find out who’s coming to visit… is it a bug-munching lizard or an eagle-eyed bird of prey? Whatever it is, do you think you can handle it?
This half term Year 3 & 4 will be exploring the world of predators, with the main focus on science. Children will be able to, recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways. Use classification keys to help group, identify and name living things.
Explore mini-beasts in their natural habitat. Locate on a map, the origin and habitat of various predators.
The child will also research the life of Charles Dawin, looking not only at his life but also his work including the detailed drawings he used as part of his research. The children will be sketching their own birds of prey in flight and creating a 3D model of a predator of their choice.
This topic is also giving the children a fantastic opportunity to visit one of Doncaster’s greatest attractions, The Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
Feeling peckish? Let’s jump aboard the food chain!
3 Pieces of homework to be completed throughout the half term.
