Tekk Challenge

For this year’s Tekk challenge years 5/6 have been working on building a bridge out of lolly pop sticks, match sticks and coloured card. Their models have to span a 50cm gap and pass other tests.

A pupil’s view of the challenge was “I’m finding the challenge really fun even though it’s tricky.”

Previously three people from the Smile Centre came to the school and asked to join in with the challenge the teachers agreed this would make it more interesting so they let them join in. Now the competition to build the best bridge is really heating up!

After the models are built the panel of teachers will judge whose model is the best and test how strong they are then pupils will be required to give a short presentation to the judging panel and showcase their planning work. Additional points will be given for teamwork and cooperation.
